Let's Duette! We are presenting an exciting collection of Coro's Duettes, cunningly engineered brooches that come apart into two matching fur clips. This example is superb, with two honey bees cast in sterling silver. The little creatures are gorgeously enameled in naturalistic colors, with white rhinestone accents and glowing red eyes. Open the brooch's rollover pin, open the bees' clips, and the fur clips come off the frame that holds them together. A fur clip is a brooch that fastens with two hinged prongs; the sturdy prongs are intended for wear on furs but will work well on any heavy fabric. The Duette is thoroughly marked "Coro Duette Sterling Pat.No. 1798867." Made in 1935 by Coro??s chief designer, Adolph Katz. Bee related jewelry is always in high demand, and this is a very special, collectible piece.
Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger established the New York accessories boutique Coro in 1901. In 1929, Coro purchased a manufacturing facility in Providence, Rhode Island, which became the world's largest costume jewelry facility.
Details.....The brooch measures 2.72" by 1.1", with each clip measuring 1.73" by 1.1". In Very Good Vintage Condition. You should always expect some wear on vintage and antique pieces; we consider it part of the charm.
